Plateau Utd retain NPFL summit as Nasarawa Utd, Rivers Utd, others claim victories

Leaders, Plateau United retained the summit position after a hard-fought 1-0 win at hosts, Wikki Tourists in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 23 clash decided at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium (ATBS) in Bauchi.

Midfielder, Anthony Sunday scored the match winner in the 33rd minute for the Tin City side.

Elsewhere, Rivers United consolidated on the second spot with a gallant 1-0 win against visitors, FC IfeanyiUbah at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt.

Substitute, Ogbonna Onuoha scored the winner for the Pride of Rivers in the 81st minute of the hotly contested encounter.

Nasarawa United practically feasted on visitors, Katsina United with three unanswered goals at the Lafia City Stadium.

Chinedu Ohanachom scored thrice in the 50th, 62nd and 88th minute to hand the Solid Miners the whole three points at stake in the clash.

However, the victory was stained with the reported death of the Lafia side player, Chieme Martins.

Newcomers, Dakkada FC punished visitors, Heartland with one unreplied goal at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

Osimaga Duke grabbed the winner for the Uyo side in the 89th minute.

Inconsistent, Lobi Stars played an uninspiring 2-2 draw against visitors, Kano Pillars at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi.

Carlos Galeya puts the Pride of Benue in front in the 8th minute while Samad Kadiri upped the goal tally to two from the penalty spot in the 18th minute.

Pillars’ spirited comeback came through Auwalu Ali Malam who scored twice in the 42nd and 69th minute to cancel the Makurdi’s side lead.

Sunshine Stars piped hard-fighting visitors, Abia Warriors 1-0 at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure.

Fuad Ekelejuoti scored the winner for the Owena Waves in the 50th minute of the encounter.

MFM FC shared the spoils goalless with visitors, Enugu Rangers at the Agege Stadium in Lagos.

Newcomers, Jigawa Golden Stars fought back from behind to outscore visitors, Kwara United 2-1 at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.

The Harmony Boys scored their consolation goal through Chinedu Onyelonu in the 45th minute.

Peter Dogara even scores for the Dutse side in the 78th minute while Stone Samuel grabbed the winner on stoppage time.

The clash involving newcomers, Adamawa United and visitors, Warri Wolves at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe was inconclusive.

However, the Seasiders were ahead with a lone goal scored by Abu Azeez in the 21st minute.

The clash between hosts, Akwa United and champions, Enyimba was postponed due to the Aba side involvement in continental assignment.
