Heartland coach, Ezekiel Onyegbule has described as great boost his side convincingly oriental derby victory against neighbours, Enyimba.
The Naze Millionaires beat the People’s Elephant with two unanswered goals in midweek Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 4 clash at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.
Shedrack Oghali score the match opener in the 33rd minute while Adachi Emmanuel grabbed the winner in the 53rd minute to hand the Owerri landlords their first win in the four-week old Nigerian top-flight.
Onyegbulel said the hard fought victory against traditional foes will serve as a catalyst to help his side launch themselves back to reckoning.
“It’s a massive result for us to get two unreplied goals in this all important match against traditional opponents like Enyimba.
“Enyimba is not a small team in the land, it’s a thing of joy that we got two unreplied goals on our home ground.
“Of course, the victory is a great boost in the sense that we have previously lost three matches in a row.
“Right now this victory will go a long way in building and developing our confidence going forward in other matches.
“And this victory is quite significant; it tells that we are gradually getting back our rhythm and style of play.
“Heartland remain a big team in the domestic league despite the huge challenges facing us.
“I think after today’s (Wednesday) victory all the challenges would have become a thing of the past,” said Onyegbule to spnafricanews.com.
Heartland now have three points from four possible 12 in the four-week old Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
