Sunshine Stars manager, Gbenga Ogunbote has said ruefully that his side have no business to lose the top-flight matchup against Mountain of Fire Miracles Ministries (MFM) FC.
The Owena Whales lost 0-1 to the Olukoya Boys in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 3 clash at the Agege Stadium in Lagos.
Dennis Obasi scored the match winner for the Lagos side in the 7th minute of the hotly contested encounter.
Ogunbote said his side were outright careless to frit away the several chances that came on their way to convincingly win the Southwest derby.
“You can see that it takes more than sheer brilliance to win a match, they did quite well but were a lot careless when it matters most.
“Well, the game has been won and lost and you see sometimes you pay dearly for carelessness and that was what happened. All we need to do now is to go home with the positives to continue chasing vital points.
“Unfortunately this is not a game we should have lost. We still have 35 more games to play, we will go back home and try to be better next time.
“It’s just sad after playing pretty well we are going home empty-handed, at least, a point would not have been bad.
“We will work on the deficiencies noted in today’s game as we look forward to making huge profits in the next matches.
“Sunshine Stars remain a force to be reckoned with in the ongoing domestic league, we will bounce back better and stronger,” said the former Enyimba and Lobi Stars tactician.
The Akure Gunners’ next NPFL matchday 4 matchup will be against Lobi Stars on Wednesday at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure.
