MFM stun Rangers in NPFL clash as Lobi, Enyimba, Delta, others record win

Mountain of Fire Miracles Ministries (MFM) FC have continued their giants killing stride and oriental hostage taking this time around at the ‘Cathedral’ against hosts, Enugu Rangers.

The Olukoya Boys edged hard fighting Flying Antelopes with one unanswered goal in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 3 clash at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

The Church team captain, Chuks Kenedinum’s lone strike in the 45th minute proved decisive to hand the Lagos side the whole three points at stake. The victory becomes the second against an oriental side in the three-week old elite league as Heartland earlier suffered the same fate on the opening day of the league in Okigwe.

Elsewhere, former champions, Lobi Stars stunned hosts, Kano Pillars with one unreplied goal at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kofarmata, Kano.

Douglas Achiv scored the match winner for the Pride of Benue in the 62nd minute to hand the side the maximum points.

Delta Force whitewashed newcomers, Jigawa Golden Stars 4-1 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.

Abdulsallam Mubarak opened the floodgate of goals in the 37th minute, Isaac Oduro upped the goal tally to two in the 48th minute while Othuke Egbo added the third goal in the 56th minute for the Asaba warlords. Ali Musa scored the consolation for the visitors, Jigawa in the 62nd minute and Williams Nmesirionye completed the rout in the 88th minute for the Asaba side.

Abia Warriors shared the spoils one goal apiece with visitors, Sunshine Stars at the Umuahia Township Stadium.

The Owena Waves took the lead through Fuad Ekelojuoti in the 19th minute while Phillip Auta even scores for the homers in the 32nd minute of the hotly contested encounter.

Reigning champions, Enyimba showed class at their slaughter ground, Enyimba Stadium in Aba as they pummelled visitors and neighbours, Akwa United 3-1.

It was a goal rush of a sort as Austin Oladapo scored the match opener in the 13th minute, Stanley Dimgba made it two in the 30th minute while Samson Obi scored the winner in the 33rd minute. Former Enyimba goal king and captain, Mfon Udoh scored the consolation for the Promise Keepers in the 39th minute.

Heartland continued their poor start of the season as they almost got beaten again on home ground this time around by an upstart, Akwa Starlets at the Okigwe Township Stadium.

The Uyo side took the lead in the 39th minute through Moses Effiong while Samuel Nnoshiri brought the Naze Millionaires back to level term from the penalty spot in the 63rd minute.

FC IfeanyiUbah piped visitors Rivers United 1-0 at the FC IfeanyiUbah International Stadium in Ozobulu/Nnewi.

Chigozie Chilekwu gave the Anambra Warriors the match winner in the 7th minute of the encounter.

Katsina United equally turned back empty-handed hapless visitors, Nasarawa United with one unreplied goal at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina.

Tasiu Lawal scored from the penalty spot in the 64th minute to hand the Chanji Boys their first home victory of the on-going season.

Former champions, Plateau United were 2-1 winners over visiting Wikki Tourists at the Jos New Stadium.

The Bauchi Elephants opened scoring in the 12th minute through Jackson Daniel while Mustapha Ibrahim even scores for the Tin City side in the 33rd minute and Abba Umar with the match winner in the 55th minute.

Newcomers, Warri Wolves showed supremacy against fellow newcomers, Adamawa United as they turned them back empty-handed with two unreplied goals at the Warri Township Stadium.

Old warhorse, Efe Yarhere scored the match opener for the Seasiders in the 70th minute while Sunday Williams grabbed the assurance goal in the 80th minute to hand Wolves their first home victory upon return to the top-flight.
