Chiejine places premium on NWPL win v Ibom Angels

Abia Angels head coach, Ann Agumanu-Chiejine has declared outright victory as all important in the top-flight clash against visiting side, Ibom Angels.

The Umuahia landladies are hosts of the Orange Ladies in Wednesday’s Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) matchday 6 clash at the Ginger Onwusibe Stadium in Ntigha.

The Umuahia side stunned newcomers, Invincible Angels with one unreplied goal in matchday 5 clash in Makurdi while the Uyo outfit recorded an emphatic two-goal win against visitors, Confluence Queens in Ikot Ekpene to pave the way for the NWPL last day matchup and Super 4 decider.

Chiejine said she already perceives the NWPL Super 4 aroma but would want to first and foremost prosecute successfully the expected tough clash against the Uyo side.

“Yes, the clash will be certainly a ding dong affair, it will be tough but the most important thing for us is outright victory.

“Winning is everything for us first and foremost, let us win first then wait for the outcome of other matches to know who makes it to the Super 4.

“If Confluence Queens win the clash against Invincible Angels then they are sure to top the group on 11 points but should they draw or lose and we win we will go ahead to top the group on 10 points.

“Already, I perceive the Super 4 aroma but I will not want to be carried away yet until the games are decided.

“Of course, Ibom Angels will not be cheap but tough, you know that nobody leaves her base to lose a match but with the work we have done we will win as far as the players play strictly to instructions,” said the former Nigerian goalkeeper and coach to frontpixs.com.

Chiejine said she will consider it the biggest landmark in her career if her side clinched the NWPL Super 4 ticket.

“I will be greatly satisfied if we achieved the Super 4 target this time around.

“Every season we see ourselves regrouping almost the entire team as quite a huge number would have gone elsewhere to seek greener pastures.

“It always affects us because it’s like starting all over again but the key is the players are eager and hungry to play and achieve glory.

“Though the experience is not usually there but they always give their best so I pray and hope we clinch the Super 4 spot and that will be the height of my career,” said Chiejine.

Abia Angels are third on the NWPL Group D log on seven points two behind leaders and opponents, Ibom Angels. Confluence Queens are second on eight points and the base team, Invincible are on four points.
